Celebrate Rooted in Fire with Chef Pyet DeSpain during this engaging culinary evening centered on her debut cookbook, personal journey, and Indigenous Fusion approach to food. A winner of Next Level Chef, Chef Pyet shares her story as an Indigenous and Mexican chef, the inspiration behind her recipes, and how culture, identity, and tradition shape her cooking. Guests will enjoy curated food and beverage tastings served at stations, followed by a live storytelling session and audience Q&A. Attendees will also have dedicated time to meet Chef Pyet and have their cookbook signed.

Includes event admission, tastings, panel + Q&A, and signing access (cookbook not included)
Other details:
• Parking details: Paid parking is available in the garage east of NICHE. Guests can access the parking garage by heading south on Topeka from Douglas and turning into the alleyway South of the Kansas Leadership Center. Parking map attached.
• Arrival time: Doors will open at 5:00 PM.
• How to indicate/change dietary needs: Dietary needs can be requested at ticket purchase. Guests can contact niche1@wsutech.edu for changes.
Check-in process: Ticket holders will need to have the QR code for their tickets.
Additional cookbooks may be available for purchase on-site while supplies last.

Chef Pyet DeSpain Pyet (an abbreviation of her inherited Native American name Pyetwetmokwe) DeSpain is a member of the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation Tribe, an award winning and global private chef, and the first winner of Gordon Ramsay’s groundbreaking cooking competition series, Next Level Chef. In 2021, Entrepreneur Magazine named her one of the Top 25 best private chefs in Los Angeles. Her life’s work is dedicated to Indigenous Fusion Cuisine, where she combines the food of her heritage, both Native American and Mexican. Pyet’s passion is to uplift Indigenous culture and traditions via storytelling, traveling, and cooking. Originally from the Osage Indian Reservation and Kansas City, Kansas, she now resides in Los Angeles.
